The ATCO Gas Blue Flame Kitchen was full of life and activity when Kensington Secondary School recently took part in the schools program for the first time.
Thirteen eager students, accompanied by their teachers, enjoyed a program of cooking activities and took part in agas safety workshop.
In the kitchen, students were shown knife skills and how to safely use several important kitchen utensils and natural gas appliances. A joint effort produced delicious morning tea platters of healthy fruit, vegetables and dip followed by pizza made from scratch– including homemade dough and a tomato base with fresh herbs from the garden picked by Kirsty and Liam – all cooked in the gas-fired pizza oven to create the perfect crust.
ATCO’s training officers provided great insight into the gas network showing students how a damaged pipe can be repaired and how the technical equipment works. Teacher Julia Johns said the students had a wonderful time, kitted out with their own hi-vis safety vests exploring a set up service truck.
“The whole day was so well prepared, ran smoothly and all students were engaged. Ten out of ten,” Ms Johns explained.
